Working in social impact can be rewarding but also challenging when faced with more priorities and needs than can be tackled in any given day. What’s the best way to stay motivated to achieve your goals?
Meet Ayelet Fishbach, Chicago Booth Faculty & Jeffrey Breakenridge Keller Professor of Behavioral Science and Marketing, and IBM Corporation Faculty Scholar, as she shares insights from her book, Get It Done: Surprising Lessons from the Science of Motivation. She will be speaking on Thursday, November 9, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. HKT, as part of the Social Impact Leadership Series (SILS), a program under The Hong Kong Jockey Club Programme on Social Innovation.
Professor Fishbach will focus on the best ways to use motivation to improve productivity and impact for professionals, whether in business or the social sector. Along with reviewing research on goal setting and monitoring, she will share insights and tools to manage multiple goals, both professional and personal, and to leverage social support.
Professor Fishbach is an expert on motivation and decision-making, whose research has been published in top academic journals and regularly featured in the media, including the New York Times, Financial Times, WSJ, CNN, and NPR.
The first 100 attendees at the event will receive a complimentary copy of Professor Fishbach’s book.

About the speaker
Ayelet Fishbach, Chicago Booth Faculty & Jeffrey Breakenridge Keller Professor of Behavioral Science and Marketing; IBM Corporation Faculty Scholar
Ayelet Fishbach studies social psychology, management and consumer behavior. She is the past president of the Society for the Science of Motivation and the International Social Cognition Network, and the author of Get It Done: Surprising Lessons from the Science of Motivation.
Fishbach is an expert on motivation and decision making. Her groundbreaking research on human motivation has won the Society of Experimental Social Psychology’s Best Dissertation Award and Career Trajectory Award, and the Fulbright Educational Foundation Award. She further recieved the Provost’s Teaching Award from the University of Chicago.
Fishbach’s research has been published in many journals, including Nature, Psychological Review, Psychological Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Journal of Marketing Research, and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Her research is regularly featured in the media, including the New York Times, Financial Times, WSJ, CNN, and NPR.
Fishbach earned a bachelor’s degree with distinction in psychology in 1992, a master’s degree summa cum laude in psychology in 1995, and a PhD magna cum laude in psychology in 1999, all from Tel Aviv University. She joined the Chicago Booth faculty in 2002.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Programme on Social Innovation provides resources and programs to help the city’s NGOs, nonprofit leaders, and social entrepreneurs do their best work.
